hesketh.com's Corporate Site Receives the Highest Flattery, Pirating!
Design Worth Stealing
You know, once in awhile, even we are amazed at the sheer audacity of some people. The hesketh.com web site was blatantly "pirated" and the design sold to a company in the UK.
Fortunately, other web designers on our community list, webdesign-L (www.webdesign-l.com), noted the theft and submitted the act to us, and to a site dedicated to tracking these piracies. You can view our case, and see screenshots of the sites side-by-side at Pirated-sites.com.
As recourse to the piracy, we sent a cease-and-desist request to the CEO of Bannerbox. The gentleman was helpful, took the site down, and is reportedly pursuing the pirates by legal means in his country.
Looking on the bright side, we recognize that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and in an odd way, this incident further validates the skills of our design team!
The News and Observer wrote a story on the incident, read that here: http://www.newsobserver.com/business/story/1741179p-1753793c.html
